RAID Decompression Procedures Specialty with DIVE NorthamptonThis programme qualifies divers to dive to 50 metres and complete dives with mandatory decompression stop requirements for up to a maximum of 30 minutes, whilst using an independent decompression gas. This Speciality is designed to extend your knowledge and introduce the skills and decompression procedures required in the use of oxygen enriched gases for Sport Diving. It develops the sport diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the concept of decompression sport diving and the use of Helium (Trimix) gas to reduce narcosis (21/27).
THE PROGRAMME EMPLOYS THE FOLLOWING GASSES Oxygen enriched gas (EANx / Nitrox) mixes from 21% to a maximum of 50% oxygen content. A maximum of 27% Helium (Trimix) content equal to an equivalent narcotic depth of 20 metres/66 feet at 45 metres /148 feet. PREREQUISITES To be a minimum of 16 years old. To be certified diver for at least 3 months. Certified RAID Open Circuit Level 3 diver or equivalent certifications such as PADI Rescue Diver with Deep and Nitrox Specialty certifications and training in Navigation and Night/Restricted Visibility diving such as is found in UK waters. There must also be logged dives of which at least 5 hours are between 27- 40 metres. The instructor is to evaluate these skills. 50 logged hours underwater using SCUBA A current Rescue Breathing/CPR and Oxygen Provider certificate (PADI, DAN or equivalent). Documented proof of these prerequisite requirements need to be presented to the Dive Centre for approval prior to any in water training. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS Main For this course you will be required to use the following which are provided if necessary within your course fees: Single cylinder (minimum 12 Lit 230 Bar) equipped with an H or Y valve or Manifolded twinset (minimum 2 x 7 Lit 230 Bar) 2 Regulator Sets to include First Stage and Second Stage (one on a 2m hose). SPG, LPI Hose and Dry Suit hose (interchangeable with the BCD) if being used. Single/multi gas Helium Trimix (optional) dive computer. Backup dive timer or enriched air (two Nitrox gases) computer or mixed gas (Helium) dive computer Slate 2 SMBs and Reels Knife or Cutters 2 Masks Torch BCD / Wing with adequate lift capacity Exposure suit - almost always a Dry Suit Side Sling Cylinder Side Sling Cylinder (minimum 5 Lit 200 Bar) Regulator set with First Stage, Second Stage with 1 metre hose and SPG COURSE CONTENT You must complete, before the in-water training, the on-line academic presentations, quizzes, exam. This material can be printed out and used in a traditional way if preferred. The cost for this element is approximately £57 and covers the cost of certification. We will also spend any time necessary going over the theory here at the Dive Centre if there are any areas that you want to review. There will then be a pool-based Review of your Diving skills to brush-up on anything that is a little rusty. This will include a Stamina, Watermanship skills review and Rescue Scenarios and Dive Planning Assignments. Finally you will complete the course based Practical skills, pool and open water sessions, totalling a minimum of 4 hours underwater. This will normally take the form of 1 pool session and at least 3 open water sessions. |
